Top 20 Frontmen of All Time

As you see rock bands are dominated by the lead singer who have an amazing or sometimes fit in neoclassical punk zydeco rockabilly, as TV Tropes would say so. Here's my top 20 list of frontmen of all time.

20. Mike Patton from Faith No More

Genres: Alternative metal, alternative rock, experimental and whatever genre he does with Faith No More
Reason: Alt-metal pioneer Patton started his music career in the experimental metal band Mr. Bungle in 1984. The band had an underground following and set blueprints for what would become the nu metal genre. But Patton wouldn't hit the big time until early 1989 when he replaced Chuck Mosley as the frontman of then-funk metal band Faith No More.

It was Patton that made Faith No More ditch the funk metal sound and switching to alternative rock-influenced heavy metal sound, a genre that would become alternative metal. Thanks to him, Faith No More became a well-known act in the United States with their breakthrough The Real Thing, which comprised their only Top 40 hit in their native country, "Epic".

Faith No More would later experiment more genres with the 1992 critically acclaimed Angel Dust album, which was first to have Patton involved in the writing process and would later be re-released with their cover of "Easy" by the Commodores.

After Faith No More's breakup in 1998, Patton focused on several rock bands such as experimental metal group Fantomas the same year, alt-metal band Tomahawk, pop rap side protect titled Peeping Tom and downtempo group Lovage, all three formed in 2000. Despite the break up of Mr. Bungle in 2004, he has launched his record label Ipecac in 1999 and has released three solo albums, along with doing soundtracks to films such as Crank: High Voltage and The Place Beyond the Pines and has collaborated with John Zorn, Bjork, Sepultura and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

Since then, Faith No More reformed in 2009 with a successful reunion tour.

19. Layne Staley from Alice in Chains

Genres: Grunge, alternative metal, alternative rock, hard rock, heavy metal, blues rock
Reason: He was from one of the big four grunge bands at the time, but unfortunately had a tragic death from drugs.
